Hearts for Homeless is honored to partner with LifeMoves in supporting individuals on their path toward stable, long‑term housing. LifeMoves provides interim housing and customized supportive services to help families and individuals rapidly return to stable housing.
One of the people whose journey deeply moved us is Katalina, a young woman who showed extraordinary resilience while navigating homelessness and other personal challenges. Katalina joined the Hearts for Homeless client advocacy program, MESA (Mental and Emotional Support Advocate), where she worked one‑on‑one with a dedicated, trained volunteer. Through the coordinated efforts of LifeMoves and the steady support of her MESA volunteer, she received the help she needed to take real steps toward stability. LifeMoves recently shared her story, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to highlight the essential role her matched MESA volunteer played in her progress.
Katalina’s Journey
Below is an excerpt from the LifeMoves feature that highlights the role of Hearts for Homeless and our MESA volunteers:
“As part of LifeMoves’ broader commitment to providing comprehensive, whole-person support, she received one-on-one emotional and practical guidance through a partnership with Hearts for Homelessness, whose trained volunteers help individuals transition to permanent housing, reduce isolation, and build routines for lasting independence.”
Katalina also took part in our Emotional and Social Support program, the Connect With Your Soul wellness workshop, which gave her a chance to connect with others, build community, and take care of her emotional well-being. CWYS is held every second and fourth Sunday of the month in a hybrid format (in three shelters and on Zoom).
As part of our Digital Connect Program, we also provided her with a laptop, giving her the tools she needed to stay connected, pursue opportunities, and continue building toward independence.
We’re grateful to LifeMoves for telling her story and honored that our Hearts for Homeless MESA volunteer could walk alongside her during such a meaningful chapter of her life.
If Katalina’s story resonates with you, we’d love to have you join us. Whether you’re interested in becoming a MESA volunteer, supporting our wellness workshops, or helping expand our Digital Connect Program, your involvement can make a real difference.
